Moderators: Benjamin Fritz
Skill Level: Intermediate to Advanced
Session Number: S-T-01
CME and CE Credit

Session Number: S-T-01

Overview
The role of MRI in the management of musculoskeletal trauma is pivotal owing to its superb visualization of soft tissues. This Clinical Focus Meeting educational session reviews the current applications, potentials and pitfalls of MRI in the diagnosis and treatment of a variety of acute and chronic musculoskeletal disorders. The session will be concluded by discussing the future of emergency department MRI in the era of fast imaging.

Target Audience
Clinicians, radiologists, technologists, and scientists involved in musculoskeletal trauma.

Educational Objectives
As a result of attending this course, participants should be able to:
- Review the role of MRI in acute traumatic injuries of the musculoskeletal system;
- Discuss MRI applications in the diagnosis and management of chronic musculoskeletal trauma; and
- Discuss the future of MRI in the emergency department for management of musculoskeletal conditions.

07:00   MRI in Acute MSK Trauma
Huishu Yuan

Keywords: Musculoskeletal: Muscular, Musculoskeletal: Skeletal, Musculoskeletal: Joints

Motivation: With the widespread application of MRI in acute MSK injury, being familiar with MRI findings can help to provide a more detailed assessment of the injury.
Goals: To summarize the MRI manifestations of acute MSK trauma and improve radiologists' assessment of acute MSK injury.
Approach: This study provides a comprehensive overview of the occurrence, development, and MRI findings of acute MSK injury through case presentation.
Results: MRI has a value that cannot be ignored for acute MSK injury. MRI can conduct a comprehensive assessment of the severity of the injury, and provide richer information for clinical diagnosis and treatment.
07:20   MRI in Chronic Musculoskeletal Trauma
Le Roy Chong

Keywords: Musculoskeletal: Joints, Musculoskeletal: Skeletal, Musculoskeletal: Muscular

This talk will present the clinical applications of MRI in the diagnosis and evaluation of chronic non-spinal musculoskeletal traumatic conditions that may be seen in routine clinical practice, highlight the advantages and impact of MRI in non-invasive imaging across a wide gamut of chronic musculoskeletal traumatic conditions occurring in different patient groups, as well as its excellent ability in depicting both soft tissue and bony injuries that are often occult with other conventional imaging modalities.
07:40   Expanding MRI Applications in MSK Trauma: Where Are We Heading?
