In collaboration with the Sociedad Mexicana de Radiologia e Imagen, the ISMRM Global Outreach Program successfully held the III International ISMRM-SMRI Course in Cancun 3-36 October 2012.  A free standing course, 148 attended from various states in Mexico, Peru, Colombia, El Salvador and Guatamala.

The ISMRM Faculty included Mark Schweitzer from Ottawa, speaking on the subject of MSK, Jorge Soto from Boston on abdomen and pelvis, Jorge Davila from Ottawa on pediatrics, Isabelle Trop from Montreal on breast and Mauricio Castillo from North Carolina on neuro.  All gave excellent, practical and state-of-the-art MR lectures and were very generous in giving four or five talks during the course of the course.  The  Sociedad Mexicana de Radiologia e Imagen (SMRI) additionally invited lecturers from abroad: Raquel delCarpio-O'Donovan from Montreal, Patricia Silva from Chicago and Marco Essig from Heidelberg who along with national speakers completed a very comprehensive course.
