2015 HONORARY MEMBER AWARD This award is
given to recognize extraordinary achievement and an exceptional level of service
and support for the Section and mission of the SMRT. Maureen D. Ainslie, M.S. R.T. (R)(MR)
Manager, Research In 1993 Maureen became the technical Manager of the MR Division as well as the Image Guided Therapy Program (IGTP) which combined MR imaging, high performance computing and image processing in a operating suite. Some of significant contributions in the startup efforts by the IGTP team included the design and development of equipment and devices that are still used in this unique surgical environment today. During this time, she also completed her undergraduate and graduate degrees. She moved to Durham, North Carolina in 1997 to continue her career in MR research where she currently serves as Manager of the Duke Image Analysis Laboratory. The lab focuses on the design, development and deployment of image-guided biomarkers. Her role includes management of, GCP (Good Clinical Practice), Regulatory, quality control of analytical laboratory processes and training and support of MR professionals worldwide. Maureen became involved in SMRT when she was sponsored by Squibb to attend the Annual meeting in San Francisco in 1991. She became an active member, utilizing SMRT as a mechanism to interact with technologists outside her realm. She was honored with the first Presidents Award at the Annual meeting in New York City, New York in 1993 and sponsored a regional meeting in Boston, Massachusetts in 1996. Elected to the Policy Board in 1997, she served as Regional Chair, Program Chair, and Executive Member. She was chosen to serve as President-Elect in 2002 and continued with her presidency in 2003-2004. She was instrumental in the process of transfer of the hosting of the technologists list server from Duke to SMRT in 2003. During her tenure as President, together with the executive team and Policy Board a strategic plan was developed and initiated in 2004. As part of this plan, the Policy Board together with Heidi Berns actively worked towards application for RCEEM status with the ARRT which was granted to SMRT in 2005. She was honored with a Fellow of the Section award at the Fifteenth Annual SMRT meeting in Seattle, Washington USA, 2006 and the Crues- Kressel award at the Seventeenth Annual SMRT meeting in Toronto, Canada in 2008. She continues to work behind the scenes serving on the Past Presidents
Committee. She is extremely proud of the accomplishments of the SMRT team and
continues to support technologist education by training technologists in her
work in multi-centered imaging studies, speaking at SMRT sponsored events, and
encouraging technologists worldwide on the importance on investing in yourself
as a MR professional. |
