On behalf of the International
Society for Magnetic Resonance in Medicine and the European Society for Magnetic Resonance
in Medicine and Biology, we are pleased to invite you to take part in our Joint Annual
Meeting and Exhibition, to be held at the Scottish Exhibition and Conference Centre,
Glasgow, Scotland, UK, 21-27 April 2001. The Joint Annual Meeting and Exhibition, combining the expertise and audience of both the ISMRM and the ESMRMB, promises to be the most important MR meeting of 2001. Since this joint meeting acts as the annual meeting for both societies, we will offer you the year's largest audience of scientists and clinicians working in the field of magnetic resonance as related to medicine and biology. The technical exhibits will be on display for four days during the meeting, from 23 through 26 April. The Exhibition will be located in Hall 4 in the Scottish Exhibition and Conference Centre. Coffee areas will be located in the technical exhibition area. We continue to permit exhibitors to offer refreshments in their booths if they wish. On 21 and 22 April 2001, educational programs will be offered, beginning with two-day courses on Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy, with emphasis on clinical applications and research frontiers, and Neuroimaging. In addition, six one-day programs will be presented, including MRI of Musculoskeletal Trauma, Advanced Body MR, Cardiac MRI: Innovations and Advances, and MR Angiography. Two of the one-day courses are new to the Joint Annual Meeting: Clinical Bootcamp for Physicists and Engineers and MR Physics for Physicists. The Section for Magnetic Resonance Technologists and the British Association of MR Radiographers will also hold a joint annual meeting during this weekend. The Scientific Meeting will follow from 23 through 27 April 2001. The Lauterbur Lecture will be given by George K. Radda, Ph.D. His lecture is titled, "From the Genome to Molecular Imaging: Dream or Reality?" During the scientific sessions, we anticipate that approximately 2,000 presentations on the latest technical, scientific, and clinical subjects in the field of MR will be made. In addition to the parallel oral sessions, poster-viewing sessions, clinical focus sessions, and morning categorical and clinical categorical sessions so successful in recent years, the Scientific Program Committee has also planned to continue the courses specifically designed for clinicians during the week of the scientific meeting. This year, the special symposium entitled "Hot Topics for Clinical Practice" will be presented, and the successful four-day course entitled "MR Physics and Technicians for Clinicians" will again be offered. The Joint Annual Meeting of the ISMRM and the ESMRMB will bring together delegates from many disciplines and many countries, whose common ground is their involvement with magnetic resonance. Your participation is vital to the success of the meeting. We look forward to seeing you in Glasgow.
