WEEKDAY EDUCATIONAL COURSE
Clinical Intensive Education Option
Artifacts in Body MRI - Case Based Teaching
ORGANIZERS: Shahid M. Hussain, M.D. & Caroline Reinhold, M.D.

SKILL LEVEL: Intermediate to Advanced
Tuesday, 10 May 2011

OVERVIEW
This two-hour course will focus on artifacts in body MRI. Lectures will address how to recognize and potentially resolve artifacts in diffusion-weighted and other sequences utilized for body MRI. The artifacts will be discussed in a unique and interactive way to enhance the understanding of the basic concepts behind the artifacts as well as their clinical significance.

EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES
Upon completion of this course participants should be able to:
« Recognize various types of artifacts related to diffusion imaging applied to body MRI;
« Describe the basic concepts of physics underlying the occurrence of artifacts in body MRI; and
« Identify how to resolve some of the artifacts and utilize other artifacts in the diagnostic process.
