|
OVERVIEW |
This one-day
course will begin with a description of how contrast agents can be
used to endow cell with MR-visible properties, and then how this
enables tracking of stem cells and immune cells in various disease
models. Different molecular probes will be described, of which some
can provide contrast with other modalities. Some focus will be on
combining these probes with therapeutic drugs in targeting of
surface receptors. We will also cover issues involved with
translating molecular imaging from small rodents to large animal
models, and with clinical translation. |
|
EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES |
Upon completion
of this course participants should be able to: |
«
Describe the basic concepts that enable molecular and
cellular imaging;
«
Describe the currently used contrast agents, molecular
probes, and reporter genes;
«
Describe how molecular and cellular imaging is important to
obtain a better understanding of the biological processes
underlying certain diseases; and
«
Describe the steps that are necessary for clinical
translation. |
