Klaas P. Pruessmann, Ph.D.,
trained in Physics and Medicine at the University of Bonn, Bonn,
Germany, and received a Ph.D. in Physics from ETH Zürich. In the
year 2002, he joined the faculty of the Department of Information
Technology and Electrical Engineering of ETH Zürich. Today he serves
as a Full Professor of Bioimaging at the same department as well as
with the Medical Faculty of the University of Zürich and heads the
two schools’ joint Institute for Biomedical Engineering. Klaas has been involved in MRI research since 1994, with an emphasis on imaging physics, data acquisition strategies and image reconstruction as well as, more recently, on MR instrumentation. He is a long-standing member of ISMRM, a Fellow of the Society, and a recipient of the ISMRM Gold Medal. He has also been awarded the Günther-Laukien Prize of the ENC as well as the European Magnetic Resonance Award, and named Fellow of the European Society for Magnetic Resonance in Medicine and Biology.
