WEEKEND EDUCATIONAL COURSE
Challenges in Musculoskeletal Imaging
SKILL LEVEL: Intermediate
ORGANIZERS: Richard Kijowski, M.D. & William B. Morrison, M.D.
Saturday, 20 April 2013
08:30-16:45

OVERVIEW
The musculoskeletal weekend educational course is entitled, "Challenges in Musculoskeletal Imaging". This course is a combined didactic and interactive session concentrating on the more difficult musculoskeletal diagnoses that radiologists are required to make. For each main area of the skeletal system a topic has been selected for in-depth discussion that contains controversial or challenging issues leading to low reader
confidence, which may result in inaccurate interpretation. Current literature for each topic will be reviewed along with presentation of clinical examples and discussion of the differential diagnosis. In addition, each presenter has been asked to prepare audience response questions as well as a full DICOM case in order to engage the audience in an interactive manner.

TARGET AUDIENCE
"Challenges in Musculoskeletal Imaging" is designed for Radiologists and clinical Orthopedic care providers who wish to update their knowledge of the use of musculoskeletal MRI for diagnosis of injury and disease.

EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES

Upon completion of this course, participants should be able to:

  • Improve upon MRI diagnosis of the more challenging aspects of musculoskeletal injury and disease;
  • Implement emerging MR imaging techniques for optimal diagnosis of MSK pathology
  • Integrate anatomy and pathophysiology of many conditions affecting the musculoskeletal system; and
  • Distinguish normal variation from pathology in specific injuries.
