Nuts & Bolts
of Advanced Imaging |
SKILL LEVEL:
Intermediate to Advanced |
ORGANIZERS:

|
OVERVIEW |
This course covers the principles
and application of parallel transmission and image reconstruction.
For the transmission section, the key topics are the underlying
principles, the B1 and E-field behaviors of transmit arrays,
techniques for optimizing B1 shimming, and parallel pulse design in
the context of local/global SAR. For the reconstruction section,
this course bridges theory to practical considerations in
implementing high-performance, production-level reconstruction
algorithms. |
|
TARGET AUDIENCE |
Those with an interest in: 1)
practical implementation of production-level image reconstruction
algorithms, 2) understanding the physical principles of parallel
transmission, B1 shimming and SAR behavior in high-field MRI. |
|
EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES
As a result of attending this
course, participants should be able to: |
- Describe the basic theory
of B1 shimming, RF pulse design and behavior of B1/E fields;
- Illustrate the principles
of local/global SARs within the context of RF pulse design and
B1 shimming;
- Compare major methods of
RF pulse design for parallel transmission;
- Understand the connection
among different parallel imaging reconstruction algorithms;
- Select appropriate
parallel imaging reconstruction algorithms based on the imaging
application;
- Identify practical
performance-limiting problems in parallel imaging
reconstruction; and
- Formulate strategies for
mitigating parallel imaging performance problems.
