ISMRM 23rd Annual Meeting & Exhibition • 30 May - 05 June 2015 • Toronto, Ontario, Canada

WEEKEND EDUCATIONAL COURSE
Preclinical Imaging
SKILL LEVEL: Basic
ORGANIZERS: Kevin M. Bennett, Ph.D. & Mark D. Pagel, Ph.D.
Saturday, 30 May 2015

OVERVIEW
Studies of small animal models of human pathologies are critical for bridging research "from bench to bedside". Small animal models are also essential for studying biological processes. MRI is an outstanding non-invasive diagnostic method for evaluating mouse models, including studies of anatomy, morphology, physiology and metabolism, and imaging studies that compliment genotyping and phenotyping.

TARGET AUDIENCE
Physicians, Imaging scientists/engineers, medical physicists, technologists and other health professionals with a developing need for utilizing MRI applications in cancer and personalized care.

EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES

Upon completion of this course, participants should be able to:

  • Select the most effective MRI techniques for specific preclinical applications, including small animal models of cancer;
  • Evaluate the strengths and limitations of preclinical MRI studies using specific MRI technologies; and
  • Apply new MRI hardware and software to better assess small animal models of disease.
