Session Sub-Topic: Clinical-Research Focus Session - Clinical Applications of Neuro Imaging Advances Q&A 2
SMRT Ed Session
ORGANIZERS: Claire Mulcahy
Session Number: SMRT-15 Overview 1. Identify potential concerns for biomedical implants and devices in the MRI environment and methods of ensuring safety of active and passive implants during MR imaging. 2. Describe current concerns of acoustic noise and any methods to reduce noise induced hearing loss in the MRI environment. 3. Review differences between 7T and 3T/1.5T scanners including B0 spatial field gradient, RF and time varying gradient magnetic fields. Target Audience Radiographers, MR technologists, radiologists, clinicians, and scientists interested in clinical applications of recent advances in MR technology as applied to neuro imaging. Educational Objectives As a result of attending this course, participants should be able to: 1. Explain the basic MRI protocol and utility of MRI for detecting neuromelanin and for diagnosing Parkinson’s Disease. 2. Give examples of clinical and research applications of proton MR spectroscopy. 3. Discuss how multiple types of imaging, particularly specific MRI sequences can help in classification and diagnosis of tumors, including molecular subgroups
