Session Sub-Topic: Clinical-Research Focus Session - MSK Forum: Advances in MSK Imaging Q&A 2
SMRT Ed Session
ORGANIZERS: Claire Mulcahy
Session Number: SMRT-24 Overview This session will address advances in MSK imaging including current methods for imaging arthritis, novel magic angle directional imaging, and techniques for optimising fast spin echo sequences. The magic angle artefact/effect will be reviewed, and the emergent Magic Angle Directional Imaging (MADI) technique will be discussed. Following, will be recommendations for basic to advanced optimisation techniques of the fast spin echo sequence with a focus on MSK imaging. Finally, current and state of the art MRI contrasts, techniques and methods for arthritis imaging will be described. Target Audience Radiographers, MR technologists, radiologists, clinicians, and scientists interested in the clinical translation of technological advances in MRI, particularly in the field of muskuloskeletal imaging. Educational Objectives As a result of attending this course, participants should be able to: 1. Describe the techniques and applications of Magic Angle Directional Imaging. 2. Identify contrast characteristics and imaging artifacts associated with fast spin echo sequences. 3. List current and state of the art MRI contrasts, techniques and methods for arthritis imaging.
