Session Number: SMRT-43 Overview Cardiac MRI is playing an increasing role in the diagnosis of cardiomyopathy, ischemic heart disease and other common cardiac conditions. This session will offer an introduction to some of the clinical applications of cardiac MRI, what the most common sequences employed are and why. Target Audience This session is aimed at radiographers, technologists, physicists and radiology trainees with a grounding in basic MRI physics and examinations but who are new to cardiac MRI. Educational Objectives As a result of attending this course, participants should be able to: 1. Understand which MRI sequences are best for imaging patients with suspected cardiomyopathy 2. Learn the role of stress perfusion in the ischemic heart disease patient pathway 3. Recognise the importance of late gadolinium imaging in the diagnosis of cardiac conditions 4. Describe how CMR can be used to measure blood flow and aid in the diagnosis of valve disease
