FLAWS MRI uses two inversion times within a T1-weighted gradient echo sequence to enhance visualization of gray matter structures within the brain. We describe an approach of combining the two images that offers improved image quality than the originally proposed method.
Proposed combination of FLAWS image: (a) standard MP2RAGE combination, (b) inverted
MP2RAGE combination (
β
= 0),
(c) proposed combination result, (d) proposed combination result with window
and level settings at 0 to 0.5.
FLAWS
MRI: (a) first inversion time image, (b) second inversion time image, (c)
combination of two inversion times using a voxel-wise minimum, (d)
inhomogeneity correction of the minimum combined image using N4ITK.
