Session Topic: MRS and Molecular Imaging, Development and Applications
Session Sub-Topic: Spectroscopy & Molecular Imaging of Cancer
Weekday Course
ORGANIZERS: Catherine Hines, Kannie WY Chan, Hai-Ling Cheng, Ronald Ouwerkerk
Skill Level: Intermediate
Session Number: Th-04 Overview This course will explain and expand on the biology of cancer and how imaging can be applied to evaluate oncology questions. Target Audience Preclinical and non-cancer researchers. Educational Objectives As a result of attending this course, participants should be able to: - Describe the biological underpinnings of current oncology therapeutics and summarize biological differences between cancer and healthy tissue in vivo and in vitro; - Select metabolites of interest in oncology and design appropriate experiments; - Distinguish high- and low-field applications for imaging of the tumor microenvironment; and - Describe the biological underpinnings of future and developing therapies and how imaging may be used in these therapeutics.
