Hot Topic Debate on the future of Gadolinium as a contrast agent

Based on the provocative statement “Gadolinium contrast agents should be phased out.” a proponent and an opponent will discuss whether alternative strategies of MRI contrast enhancement might be progressively implemented in standard practice to such a level that GBCAs will be definitely phased out or if we cannot imagine a world without GBCAs, especially now that high relaxivity and high stability agents are being clinically validated and will soon enter the market. Advantages and disadvantages of these two visionary approaches will be discussed.
