Developing methods for MRI acquisition, reconstruction, and analysis is a rewarding experience, but the journey does not end there. Translating technical skill into research and career success is also a vitally important step for any aspiring engineer/scientist. However, this can be a challenging and opaque process for many in the early stages of their careers, particularly at a time where many struggle to find work/life balance. In this course, several panel discussions with experienced and established experts will be offered covering a broad range of topics relating to research and career development and strategies for success.
Target Audience Scientists, engineers, clinicians, and medical physicists active in the field of MRI acquisition, reconstruction, and analysis interested in advice on achieving research and career success. In addition, future and current mentors looking for advice on how to best support their trainees in this research field.
Educational Objectives As a result of attending this course, participants should be able to: - Identify promising areas of research to focus on; - Employ successful strategies for writing papers and grants; - Recognize differences in how you sell yourself and your research to different audiences; - Choose among various different career paths; and - Describe the benefits of seeking inspiration from other fields.
