Overview
This year’s ISMRM EDI Forum aims to help you make the most from mentoring relationships and improve your networking and communication skills.
Additionally, for the first time, this forum will feature views on the culture of our host country, namely from Indigenous Canadian speakers who will present you with perspectives on their history, views and culture.

The forum thus consists of two main parts. The first is a view on the local culture and history, explaining their view on EDI and how this has improved but still needs to be worked on. Furthermore, this talk will feature their societal issues, their worldview and their story. The second part of the forum entirely focuses on you, the members. We have three scheduled talks by experts from the ISMRM featuring these topics:
• Remote Locations: How can you facilitate research when you are not in the “hot spot” of technological and (scientific) culture? How can you make the best of this situation or still benefit from others peoples’ advantages or successes? Also, it will be critically analyzed whether you as a scientist could benefit from either being on your own/small group in research or should be involved in a larger research group.
• Success Story: Someone who made it. We will feature a speaker who faced adversity during their early and mid-career but still made it to the top, becoming a renowned MRI scientist.
• Mentoring: What is mentoring? How can you benefit from mentoring? What does it mean to be a mentor and a mentee? How do you find your perfect mentee/mentor? We will share the ISMRMs’ vision and future plans on how we can successfully implement mentoring within our society.

We will close the session with a panel discussion where you can ask your questions and give your personal remarks and feedback to what you have learned in this session.

Target Audience
All ISMRM and ISMRT members, both senior and junior members (early and mid-/late- career stage).

Educational Objectives
As a result of attending this course, participants should be able to:
- Review the culture of the hosting country;
- Recall successes and critically evaluate your location/team and how that affects your chances; and
- Explain the benefits and needs of mentoring for your career to make best use of this opportunity.
