Overview of Advanced Imaging for Head & Neck Cancer: Exemplary
Application for Parotid Tumor Diagnosis
Jingwen Yao
Keywords: Cross-organ: Cancer In this lecture, we will provide a brief overview of advanced imaging approached in the context of head and neck cancer, using the differential diagnosis of parotid tumors as an exemplary application. We will start with an introduction of parotid tumors and the clinical significance of its differential diagnosis. Following that, we will discuss the current clinical practice, focusing on the information provided by conventional MRI sequences. Then we will delve into different categories of advanced imaging techniques that have been investigated under the context of parotid tumor differential diagnosis. Lastly, we will discuss the current status and remaining challenges. |

Advanced Imaging Techniques for Head/Neck Oncology
Stefan Posse
Keywords: Neuro: Brain, Contrast mechanisms: fMRI, Contrast mechanisms: Spectroscopy Extent of tumor resection (EOR) is strongly correlated with both progression-free and overall survival in both low and high grade gliomas. A tumor location in the vicinity of eloquent cortex demands precise functional mapping to make accurate assessment of risks of surgical resection versus tumor progression (and alternative treatments), which is currently based on subdural electrocortical stimulation (ECS) as the gold standard. This talk will discuss recent developments of advanced peri-surgical neuroimaging techniques to diagnose brain tumors and guide treatment, including fMRI, MRSI, hyperpolarized MRI, deuterium MRI and PET. |
