2024 Junior Fellow Symposium:
Shark Tank
Call for Participants & Judges
Application Deadline:
Call for Participants
Do you have the next big idea in MR? Have you created a piece of software, hardware, or sequence that you want to share with the radiology community? Have you ever wanted to bring your creation to market, or do you have a proof of concept for the transformative technology of the 2020s? The ISMRM Junior Fellows want you to pitch your idea!
The ISMRM Shark Tank competition is an opportunity for you to pitch your idea to a panel of experts who will judge the potential of your invention. This is a unique opportunity to step out of the normal scientific presentation mode and explore the entrepreneurial aspects of MRI. If you think this sounds exciting, this is something for you!
How does it work?
You or your team will prepare a 5-minute pitch, that one of you will present to a panel of judges from across the field (physicians, physicists, radiographers, industry leaders) in front of a live audience at the 2024 ISMRM & ISMRT Annual Meeting & Exhibition in Singapore. Prizes will be awarded to the best teams, as judged by the panel.
What do you have to do now?
Fill out this Google Form before the above deadline to sign up for the competition, in which you will provide a brief description of your invention. After the deadline, the highest ranked submissions will be invited to give a presentation in Singapore. Prior to the conference you will receive coaching from a coach to sharpen your pitch.
Call for Judges/Coaches
Do you have a nose for a good idea? The ISMRM Junior Fellows are looking for volunteers to serve as Coaches and Judges for the Shark Tank competition during this year’s annual meeting in Singapore. We always strive for diversity and therefore look for volunteers from all aspects of MRI, including clinicians, industry experts, or experienced academic researchers. Preferably you have interest, experience, or insight into the process of turning academic ideas into commercial products.
As a coach, you will be assigned 1-2 teams and help them prepare their pitch for the competition (estimated time requirement of 2 hours) during April. You will provide constructive criticism and help them fine tune their 5-minute pitch.
As a judge, you will serve on a panel during the live session at the annual meeting in Singapore and be responsible for scoring the presentations. As a judge you are expected to attend the meeting in person.
If you are interested in being a coach and/or judge, please fill out this Google Form by the above deadline.
