BRITISH CHAPTER OF THE INTERNATIONAL
SOCIETY OF MAGNETIC RESONANCE IN MEDICINE
3rd ANNUAL MEETING
MANCHESTER, DECEMBER 22-23, 1997
The 3rd annual meeting of the British Chapter of the ISMRM will be
held on December 22nd-23, 1997, in the Renold Building, UMIST campus, Manchester,
in association with the British Institute of Radiology, the Institute of
Physics and Engineering in Medicine and Biology and the Magnetic Resonance
Radiologists Association (UK). Royal College of Radiologists CME credits
have been applied for.
PROGRAMME
A series of topic-based workshops, with reviews from invited speakers,
will be followed by proffered papers, discussion and poster sessions. Themes
include MR in stroke, cognition and psychiatric disorders, the cardiovascular
system, articular structure, liver imaging and volumetric imaging analysis.
The meeting is the venue for the annual William Moore lecture. The meeting
is intended to provide an update on current MR- based research and to encourage
cross-fertilization of ideas and experience betw een scientists, clinical
radiologists and post-graduate students.
ABSTRACTS
Abstracts in the field of MR in medicine - MRI or spectroscopy, are invited.
Abstracts should give the title, authors (underline presenting author),
organisation, address, and a concise summ ary of methods and results. Please
indicate whether oral or poster presentation is preferred. Oral presentations
is more likely to be offered to papers complementing the workshop themes,
but parallel sessions may be organised. The abstracts should be clearly
laid out and must not exceed one side of A4. The deadline for abstract
submission is 26 September and those selected for presentation will
be notified by 31 October. A limited number of student bursaries
will be awarded.
REGISTRATION AND ACCOMMODATION
Members in good standing of the British Chapter of the ISMRM, the BIR,
the IPEMB and the MRRA are entitled to member's registration fees. Advanced
registration must be received by 28 November. Students should enclose
a letter verifying their status. Cheques should be made payable to "The
British Chapter of ISMRM". Fees include registration, lunches, buffet supper
and tea/coffee. No reduction is given for part attendance. Delegates requiring
university B&B accommodation (approx £ 20) should book it with
the advanced registration. For rail travellers, it is recommended to combine
Sunday travel (£ 36 return from London) with an extra night's B&B
rather than travel on Monday (£ 95 return, dawn start). A 5-a-side
football match, followed by informal curry and beer sampling, may be organised
if sufficient bodies arrive on Sunday.
