ISMRM EDUCATION COMMITTEE

About the Committee

The ISMRM Education Committee is a group of 45+ education enthusiasts from different backgrounds that are led by  Anja G. van der Kolk, M.D., Ph.D. (Chair) and  Jakob Assländer, Ph.D. (Vice-Chair). The Committee was originally established to curate the society’s past educational content in the form of online courses within its own online platform, the MR Academy. However, over time our ambitions have grown to become the place to be for MR education on the internet, for everyone, everywhere! Members serve the committee for three years, and with such a big committee – we are the largest ISMRM committee after the AMPC – we are always looking for new education enthusiasts! Interested in joining, or eager to support MR education through videos, presentations, hands-on online tutorials, etc.? Volunteer during the annual call for volunteers through our membership announcements page (open end of January to March on the Member Announcements page).

Meet the Committee
(coming soon)

The ISMRM is dedicated to the lifelong learning and practice improvement of the MR community and those interested in learning more about magnetic resonance. While the society is known worldwide for its excellent, state-of-the-art science, education is another cornerstone of the ISMRM facilitated by educational talks at the annual meeting, workshops, and on-site encounters between junior researchers and established MRI leaders. On the following web pages, we present you with the full breadth of online MR education within our ‘MR Academy’.

MR Academy Vault

The MR Academy Vault is an online education portal. A selection of educational talks is available on YouTube for free:

The full MR Academy Vault is available to all ISMRM members by searching this Google Apps Script.

NEW Short Online-Only Videos

Over the past two years, new online educational content has been created by our members, ranging from basic science to clinical applications of MRI. These videos are up to 15 minutes long to facilitate easy watching and cover those topics that are generally not discussed at the Annual Meeting. Many of these videos are ‘How-to’ and use the online format to show in real-time how to address a specific issue or read a specific body part.

Some topics these short videos cover:

  • How to read knee MRI
  • Cartilage lesions
  • Basics of MRI of the pancreas
  • Fetal brain diffusion MRI
  • Artifacts in breast MRI
  • Impact of shimming strategies at 14.1T
