Dear SMRT Colleagues and Friends,

With the 2019 SMRT 28^th Annual Meeting in Montréal only 12 weeks away, I am immensely proud to announce an exciting addition to our SMRT Annual Meeting. We will be commencing a new SMRT tradition, where the SMRT President will be inviting a world-renowned leader in the field of MRI to deliver the “SMRT Presidential Lecture.” The Presidential Lecture will give our meeting attendees a unique opportunity to hear the story of MRI from pioneers and experts in the field.

I am both privileged and honored to announce that Denis Le Bihan, M.D., Ph.D. will be the inaugural SMRT President’s Lecturer at this year’s SMRT 28^th Annual Meeting in Montréal, QC, Canada. Dr. Le Bihan is a world-leading expert in MR diffusion and is credited with inventing, developing and introducing into research and clinical practice the concept of Diffusion MRI. He is also the founding Director of France’s NeuroSpin, an internationally renowned, Ultrahigh Field MRI Neuroimaging Center, and the site of an 11.7T full body MRI scanner.
