2022 Crues-Kressel Award
The Crues-Kressel Award is for Outstanding Contributions to the Education of Magnetic Resonance Technologists.
The recipient of this year’s award is:
Sarah K. Green, M.H.Sc.(MRI). B.H.Sc.(Med.Img.)
Sarah Green has over 15 years’ experience working as a MRI Technologist in Christchurch, New Zealand. She began her MRI training in Dublin, Ireland and then completed her post-graduate study with the University of Sydney. Her main interests in MRI are Cardiac and Neuro imaging. During her career, she has been involved in many SMRT committees and is currently the President of the newly formed New Zealand National Chapter. She enjoys bringing networking and education opportunities to the MRI community. Sarah had the privilege of being an elected SMRT Policy board member from 2018 – 2021. During this time, she served on many committees that have enhanced her career. One of her most rewarding committees was the Divisions Committee. She worked with an enthusiastic team to support the establishment of new SMRT Divisions in the UK and North America. These new Divisions created an opportunity for local MRI Radiographers and Technologists to have access to world-class MR education.
As a member of SMRT she has had the opportunity to be involved in all aspects of educational meetings at various levels. She had key roles in organising National Chapter and Division meetings. One of her highlights was organising the first International Joint Division Webinar with the South Carolina and New Zealand Divisions. She has enjoyed having the opportunity to speak at some of these meetings as well as moderating. Moderating at SMRT Annual meetings has created many networking opportunities to help support education in her local region. Another highlight of her time as Chair of the Divisions Committee was promoting the SMRT in Greece. Together with a team of SMRT Policy Board members and the team in Greece, they were able to host the first SMRT webinar in Greek. This was also enjoyed by many non-Greek speaking MRI professionals globally!
Together with some other passionate New Zealand MRI Technologists, she helped form the first New Zealand National Chapter which she is acting President. This achievement has been so rewarding and it is an honour to be able to bring world-class education and networking opportunities to our MR Community as a whole, not just Technologist but also vendors, employers and other allied professionals.
Sarah has completed many courses in Management and Health & Safety. Together all of these have directed her career path in to a managerial position. This position helps her to empower other colleagues and encourage education.
