LETTER FROM THE EDITOR

Julie Strandt-Peay, B.S.M., R.T., (R)(MR), FSMRT
Greetings,

As you settle into a new calendar year, the SMRT has already been working to bring you educational programs and information applicable to your daily practice in the field of MR. This E-Signals begins with a message from President Vera Kimbrell. She lists the many educational programs currently available to members and non-members as well. The SMRT is fortunate to have volunteers who have made long term commitments to serving the MR community.

2013 Program Chair, Barry Southers, reminds us it is not too late to make plans to attend the 22nd SMRT Annual Meeting in Salt Lake, Utah, USA. Education Chair, Rosemary Fisher, and her committee have reviewed scores of abstract submissions. Barry and Rosemary have worked diligently to produce an annual meeting that is packed with education sessions. There will also be social time and an opportunity for attendees to participate in the business meeting of the SMRT.

Elections results are reported by Nominations Committee Chair, Julia Lowe. Maureen Hood will begin her three year term beginning as President-elect at the Annual Meeting. Maureen has served the SMRT well and her leadership will be welcomed. Four new members have been elected to the Policy Board for three year terms: Amanda Hunt; Vanessa Orchard; James Stuppino; Raschel van Luijk-Snoeks. We thank them for their commitment to the SMRT. The membership also elected the recipient of the 2013 Crues-Kressel Award, Wendy Strugnell. She is well deserving of this recognition for her efforts in Australia and New Zealand.

One of the actions supported by the SMRT is the MR Technologist list serve. Publications Committee Chair, Rhonda Walcarius points us to the SMRT website application and a possibility to invite others to join in the discussion.

Education for MR Technologists and Radiographers is the focus of the SMRT. The efforts of Anne Sawyer, Editor of the SMRT Home Studies program, have made a momentous contribution to that focus. She explains the content of the home study MRI Atlas of the Abdomen.

Your time and attention to reading and viewing this publication is appreciated and any suggestions and or feedback are welcome.

Happy Reading!
